We will never see you wearing...
Leather jackets with studs. Anything overtly 'rock and roll', I find cheesy. That sort of dress should be reserved for dorky, rich men undergoing identity-crises.
Please describe your style in three words.
Risky, anti-twee/precious, dramatic.
What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?
Being too concerned with trends.
Do you believe in role models?
Role models are healthy and useful when they provide you with an alternative to the status quo.
Are there any style combinations that you object to?
You can rock anything with enough confidence.
Which city has the best-dressed women?
East London, because they take risks. They don’t give a fuck.
Would you say that you are conservative or bold?
Offensively bold.
What are the rules, if any, in the way you dress?
I attempt to stay simple/sleek but still aim to stand out in a room.
One garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?
Fur.
A woman should always look...
Showered.
Who taught you what you know about style?
The Internet.
How do you select your clothing every morning?
Contingent upon degree of hangover and day’s obligations.
What is your biggest regret?
Not bidding more on a certain chartreuse, knit 70’s jumpsuit (one-piece).
Do you have any shopping rituals?
I don’t often make rash decisions. If I fall in love with something that I consider a big purchase, I take some time to decide if I truly want it (and if I can afford it).
Which new designers do you follow/admire and why?
William Okpo, a sister-duo. Fashion-y and crazy enough, but still wearable.
Who is the most stylish person you have ever seen?
I love the tenacity of Michelle Harper’s fashion aesthetic.
What is the first thing you notice on a woman?
How much makeup they cake on their face. Or any visible signs of plastic surgery.
What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?
A Valentino fox fur jacket, and a vintage Snow-white ostrich feather jacket.
The one image that defined your approach to style...
The movie poster of Clueless.
Is comfort an enemy of style?
Absolutely not… style is individual. On certain days, I love wearing XL baseball shorts from Kmart paired with XXL Sweatshirts. I think it can be construed as a type of ‘style’.
Who would you like to see next in My Style?
Chantal Chadwick.
The best words of advice you have ever heard?
Spanx is your friend.
