The three essential things a woman should know about style are…

How to look elegant by wearing something simple, how to look sexy without being naked, and how to look feminine wearing masculine-inspired outfits.

Please describe your style in three words.

Minimal, classic, elegant.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Wearing an outfit that doesn’t look effortless and trying too hard to put things together.

Do you believe in role models?

I think it's important to get inspired by other people and aim for more.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Velvet, suede, cashmere, and silk.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

Wearing sneakers with dressy outfits, it just doesn’t work for me.

Which city has the best-dressed women?

Paris, there is that effortless style I mentioned before.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

Conservative.

What are the rules in the way you dress?

I don’t have specific rules, I dress without thinking too much. I like to buy classic pieces so I can wear them for years and mix them every time in a different way.

Celebrities and style...

Is something that works better if there is a stylist in between.

Name one garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Tailored blazers, heels, vintage jewellery.

A woman should always look…

Chic.

Who taught you what you know about style?

I learned a lot from my grandmother, she was the most elegant woman I’ve ever seen. I still conserve a lot of her pieces.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

My daytime outfits are jeans, T-shirts or silk shirts, and ballerinas or ankle boots. They are easy to select.

What is your biggest regret?

When I buy things without thinking if I really need them; I feel so bad afterwards.

Do you have any shopping rituals?

I love to take an afternoon off and do a tour of my favourite vintage stores in New York.

We will never see you wearing...

Anything that has crazy shapes and colours, from clothes to accessories.

Which new designers do you follow and why?

Anthony Vaccarello, I love his incredibly sexy silhouettes.

Who is the most stylish person you have ever seen?

Jane Birkin.

What is the first thing you notice on a woman?

Her presence.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

My vintage bags from Gucci and Salvatore Ferragamo, and some pieces of vintage jewellery I bought at antiques markets.

The one image that defined your approach to style...

Helmut Newton photography in general.

Which designer never fails to impress you?

Dries Van Noten, never ever.

One article of clothing that a woman needs to pay close attention to is…

Her shoes, the accessory that elevates the figure.

Is comfort an enemy of style?

Not at all, the best thing is to feel comfortable and beautiful at the same time.

Who would you like to recommend for My Style?

Amina Muaddi, one of my closest friends and the designer and creative director of Oscar Tiye.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

“There is only one thing in life, and that’s the continual renewal of inspiration,” and “The eye has to travel.” — Diana Vreeland
