Wear what you like, don’t be dictated. Have some basic essentials that will last. Wear shoes you can walk on.
Please describe your style in three words.
Individual, rock, chic. I never have the same style. Sometimes you will see me more formal and sometimes more rock ‘n’ roll. But I wear a lot of black.
What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?
Not to see the fun in fashion.
Do you believe in role models?
I believe in inspiration, not copying.
What are your favourite fabrics?
Natural fabrics. I don’t like synthetics on my skin.
Are there any style combinations that you object to?
No.
Which city has the best-dressed women?
Depends on what style you like. I like Amsterdam as there is a huge variation in dressing.
Would you say that you are conservative or bold?
Not bold, but conservative sounds boring.
What are the rules in the way you dress?
That it reflects my mood of the day.

Suits.

The better version of herself.

My mom, as she had a designer boutique.
How do you select your clothing every morning?
In a rush.
What is your biggest regret?
That all the great designer pieces from the 70s and 80s my mom wore are gone.

When in doubt don’t buy.

Avelon, it’s got a funky style but with a lot of class.
Who is the most stylish person you have ever seen?
I like Alexa Chung. We just featured her in Glamour and love the way she dresses.
What is the first thing you notice on a woman?
Her energy and her strength.
What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?
My vintage Chanel blazer.
Which fashion house never fails to impress you?
Acne, Dries van Noten, Céline, Chanel, and Prada.
One article of clothing that a woman needs to pay close attention to is...
Her underwear.
Is comfort an enemy of style?
Yes, in the end it is. But sometimes it's good to be out of style at home, sitting on the couch.
