How do you select your clothing every morning?

It depends on the weather, my mood, and my schedule of the day… It’s easy since I kind of always wear the same things, t-shirts/jeans/boots and stuff! However, if I have an important appointment, I’ll put on a Uniqlo white shirt and my old Dior Homme black jacket from the Hedi Slimane era; I love it!

Please describe your style in three words.

T-shirts, jeans, boots!

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

I don’t think there are rules in fashion, and everyone should wear whatever they want… But I really don’t like it when people have a total look from one designer; I prefer to mix the pieces and make the outfit my own.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Definitely cashmere — soft and comfortable!

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

Wearing coordinated jewellery, necklaces plus earrings and bracelets.

Which city has the best-dressed women?

Paris! I like the fact that Parisians don’t look dressed up… Isabel Marant captured that very well, looking fancy but not tacky.

Celebrities and style...

Isn’t always that bad! For instance, I love Diane Kruger's style, as she always looks so chic but never over the top.

Name one garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Jewellery of course! I guess that’s why I design them… Now I feel naked when I don’t wear any.

A woman should always look like...

Herself.

Who taught you what you know about style?

I’m not a huge believer of fashion icons, but Caroline de Monaco, who is an old friend of my family, was definitely a style role model…

What is your biggest regret?

My father directed Vogue Paris for fifteen years. He used to take me to rue de Bellechasse where Azzedine Alaia’s sister lived, and we bought from her a tonne of clothes… Well, I gave everything away a few years ago, and you can imagine how much I regret it now!

We will never see you wearing...

Sparkling, shiny, golden outfits. Not me at all!

Which new designers do you follow and why?

Leetha, Céline, Saint Laurent, The Row, Theyskens… I like their aesthetic — chic and pure.

Who is the most stylish person you have ever seen?

Ines de la Fressange… it’s not a myth; she actually is the most elegant woman in the world!

What is the first thing you notice on a woman?

Her jewellery.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

A pair of Chanel vintage shoes from the 50’s I bought in London.

Which designer never fails to impress you?

Alaia, without a doubt!

One article of clothing that a woman needs to pay close attention to is...

Her shoes! Whatever you wear, if you have beautiful shoes on, you will look good… I don’t wear heels very often. I’m more of a biker boots kind of girl! Fiorentini & Baker are the best!

Is comfort an enemy of style?

Not to my style, that’s for sure!

Who would you like to see next in €œMy Style€?

Emily Minchella and Caroline Baltz Nielsen, the two designers of Leetha.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

Always be yourself!
