The three essential things a woman should know about style are…
That style is a form of intelligence and requires a little discipline; always be inspired and push yourself.
Please describe your style in three words.
Minimal, romantic, and slightly edgy.
What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?
Wanting to do it all at once.
Do you believe in role models?
Yes, as long as you remain aware of your own individuality and cultivate your uniqueness.
What are your favourite fabrics?
Charmeuse silk, velvet, and lambskin.
Are there any style combinations that you object to?
I'm not a fan of plastic leather jackets worn over nylon leggings.
Which city has the best-dressed women?
Paris!
Would you say that you are conservative or bold?
I'm more conservative, but always subtly quirky. ;)
What are the rules in the way you dress?
I just tell myself: “Dress the way you want to feel today”.
Celebrities and style...
Are both overrated virtues.
Name one garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?
Shoes, shoes, and shoes!
A woman should always look like…
She’s smart.
Who taught you what you know about style?
My mother and Marie Ruckie, the headmistress of the design school I attended.
How do you select your clothing every morning?
I start with choosing a pair of shoes, then a coat… Then I usually wear something comfortable underneath.
What is your biggest regret?
Oh dear! I'm too young to have big regrets.
Do you have any shopping rituals?
Once in a while I love going to Les Puces de Saint-Ouen flea market for incredible vintage treasure hunting.
We will never see you wearing...
Sneakers with a wedge.
Which new designers do you follow and why?
Lately, I love Simone Rocha for her feminine playfulness and Vetements for its exaggerated take on Parisian nonchalance.
Who is the most stylish person you have ever seen?
A stranger on the street. He was in his 70's I think.
What is the first thing you notice on a woman?
Her kindness.
What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?
My Martin Margiela thigh high boots and my pink feather jacket.
The one image that defined your approach to style...
Catherine Deneuve smoking a cigarette in her black nightgown.
Which designer never fails to impress you?
Phoebe Philo for Céline.
One article of clothing that a woman needs to pay close attention to is…
Her handbag of course!
Is comfort an enemy of style?
Not necessarily. Look at what Vetements is showing. I like mixing the very comfortable with fancier items. Like a hoodie under a fur coat.
Who would you like to recommend for My Style?
My friend Leaf Greener, Dorian Grinspan, and Claire Distenfeld.
The best words of advice you have ever heard?
Don’t waste time worrying.
